Walking weeks

Together with Bella Walk Italia we have organised walking weeks to help people discover how wonderful the area around Villa Très Jolie can be. The walks are for medium walkers, we do not go too high up the mountains and each walk about 3 - 4 hours walking. Your hosts Giulio and Dani (us) will be your guides for the walks, we are both experienced walkers and know the area here very well.

On arrival to Villa Très Jolie we have a welcome 'Prosecco' and plenty of information about the lake and the walks. Later on in the meeting room we hold a short meeting to explain the 4 walks and answer any questions that you may have. As there is so much to do in the area we do not do a walk every single day, we do 4 walks in total, every other day. We chose the walks for their variety and beauty.

The Via St. Miro walk

This walk starts from the Villa, we pass by the lake front and then head to the St Miro Church up the cobbled stairs, following the route of the old Via Regina - the 'main road' for mules along the lake we arrive at Dascio for lunch, trying one of the local specialities while overlooking the beautiful village on the side of the Mera River with views over the Pian di Spagna nature reserve. After lunch we walk to the remote village of Albonico via a mule track and then along the quiet country lanes to arrive at Sorico and back to the Villa. As this is a long walk (4 - 4.30 hours) in the evening if you would like to stay at the villa we have a pasta party on our terrazza so that you can fully relax See the photos of the walk

The Via del Vino walk

For this walk we transfer up the Valtellina valley (famous for its vinyards) to a little village above the valley called Santa Croce. from here there is a brief walk (1.30h) over the muletracks with surround the vinyards, stopping off to look at a medieval wine press which has been lovingly restored and then lunch at Osteria Santa Croce, again with wonderful views over the vinyards. .you can try the local speciality of Pizzochieri. Then back to the landrover and down into the medieval town of Morbegno for a tour of the traditional centre, you have the chance to see the Ciapponi Cantina to see and try wines and cheese. after some free time to relax we stop off at the organic farm nearby to try some homemade ice cream. (2 hours walking approx) See the photos of this walk

The Via della Regina walk

We walk from the Villa up to the medieval village above - after winding our way through the fascinating village (unique in the lake) with its underpasses and narrow lanes (you cannot pass through with a vehicle) we walk through the fields and woods to Caino & Vercana along the Via Regina mule track. Stopping off at a small private trattoria we try chestnut gnocchi and then walk down the mountain along mule tracks with wonderful views of the lakes down to a lakeside village, after walking along the lake front we have a transfer back to the Villa. (4 hours walking approx) Pizza Party & icecream at vtj 15,00€ (Runchèe closed all week, open sat/sun) See the photos of this walk

The Via Panorama walk

We transfer from the Villa to a nearby village, from there we walk up the mule tracks passing through the little 'borghi' with superb views of the lake up to a small village called Peglio, here we can see a church with the most incredible fresco's and also as we are quite high there are breathtaking views of both the lake and up the valtellina valley, walking over part of the famous via monti lariani walk we arrive Livo - lunch at Livo - then down another mule track to arrive at the Sorsasso wine producers where Roberta & Daniele explains the wine making process and give you a chance to try some of their produce.
